So you want to start a BLOG ?
There are many reasons one may want to start a blog. Love to Write? Socialize? Want to make GREAT Money sitting in your underwear from home? These are a few good reasons to want to start a blog.
I am quite new to blogging, but have been a internet mulipreneur for years. I haven’t had a “job” since the year 2001. Was I blogging?- Naw. But I was on the internet, making a living selling items I no longer needed or wanted and renting advertising space on my Facebook Group Pages, 954 Trading Post, where I allow members (13,000 of them) to sell, trade and buy on my page, and Hot Mommypreneur- which is mommys who are interested in making money from home, as well as selling and buying.
Starting my blog gave me happiness. Content. Income. And flexibility as a single mom, full time student, and my 8 year old daughter’s sole provider. I blog from home, school, and even at red lights. I can blog at 6 A.M. and I can blog at 11 P.M. Any time I can get online- I can blog!
Blogging is overwhelming, time consuming, and frustrating- especially when you just want your blog up and COMPLETELY finished- OH, and Fabulous. Like, I should be doing my 2D Design project right now instead of redoing this post, lol.
Ok- So, Do you know what your niche is? That’s WHAT you want to chant about. What you know, what information that you may have to offer this world of internet fans. Basically, WHAT your blog is about. Great, let’s proceed.
After the Niche, comes your name. Make it catchy! Rememberable. You should create a fresh email account with this name, if possible. BUT FIRST- Don’t forget to check with local domain provider’s like Go Daddy and Web Hosting Hub to make sure that your desired name is in fact, available. You don’t want to call it a name that someone else has for one, and for two- you probably want to be able to purchase the domain (www.) for your name.
There are tons of blogs out there explaining the best ways to start a blog, and there ARE tons of ways to actually start a blog IJS. Not one certain way is right, as long as you get your blog up and running.
First, you have to decide whether or not you want your blog for Fun……. or for serious, lol. Serious meaning that you want to probably make some income off of your blog. That makes a difference in how you decide to run your blog. Make money off of a blog? Really? YES! I actually was more eager to start my blog once I found out that I could make mass amounts of income from it! Doing WHAT I love!
Self Hosting or Free Blog?
Self-Hosting:
Pay for and OWN, nobody can shut you down, take over, or tell you what to put on your blog.
This is the type of blog that you need if you plan on making any income from your blog. This option is for people wanting to be serious about their blog- and want the option to keep their blog forever.
This type of blog is paid for, and not free. Well, you pay for hosting your blog, not the site to create it- which MOST websites out there, as well as I, use WordPress.org. Which is free once you pay for the hosting through a hosting provider.
I offer HUGE discounts on web hosting in my links below and they are only a few bucks a month. The great thing is, after that- you don’t pay a thing.
If you use WordPress.org (which is free for self hoster’s) and the right plug-in’s (which most are free), then you can build any kind of site that you have ever seen on the web with this option.
If you decide to sell products, many FREE WordPress Themes offer a storefront page, where you can do that and make ALL of the income rather than pay a fee or percentage off each sale.
With this option, you also have the option of purchasing a domain name like www.ayniyahsworld.com to have your site a personal, rememberable address.
Free Blog:
Free Blog- free, you heard it. This type of blog is free. You do not own your blog, you cannot make income (and a whole lot of it) by affiliates or advertising on your blog. The only way to make income from this type of blog is if you have products to sell; you use a storefront through your blogging platform in which you will have to pay a fee and/or a percentage of every item sold in your storefront.
I recommend this option if you are blogging for a hobby, and not a living.
Free Blogging Platforms are available with easy set-up and drag and drop customization such as WordPress.com, Squarespace, Tumblr, and Wix. These are all free platforms and all you have to do is sign up and start customizing- it’s simple and requires no special training or assistance.
Ok- BIG decisions, actually naw…. it’s not that hard girls! If you plan on making income off of your blog, you need to choose the self-hosting option. If you are blogging for fun, or writing and communicating hobbies, then the free blog option is great for you.
So, assumming that you chose the self-hosting option. Fabulous, because I hope you plan on putting in, so you can recive out.
I’ll explain how to get started….
First, Purchase your domain name….. as explained above. Ok cool Now you have it. This is where your readers will find you. Your address. Your www dot.
Next, purchase Self Web Hosting- ok, no doubt that there are tons out there! I use who I trust. Who has tech support, speed, and security.
